The University of Iowa’s online master’s degree program in social work admits students every other year into the part-time program. The next online MSW cohort will begin in summer 2024. Online students must live in Iowa or bordering states, who because of geography or life circumstances, cannot access the Des Moines, Iowa City, Quad Cities or Sioux City learning centers. Students must participate in a required two-day summer institute in Iowa City during the second and third summers of the program. Graduates are prepared to become advanced generalists upon earning the degree. There is no advanced standing or accelearated option available, and the program generally takes three years to complete. A GRE score is not required.
